2 Our Environment and Heritage
Cornwall boasts environment and heritage characteristics that are distinctively different from any other county. The Cornwall Landscape Assessment 1994 stated:
‘"Cornwall is a place apart, its special and unique identity shaped by primitive natural forces, rock, sea and the climate – and by layers of history which have etched, century upon century, deeply into the land, creating a landscape of endless incident, richness, splendour and beauty."
