The County
It is absolutely critical in developing the longer term transport strategy for Cornwall that a full analysis is undertaken of a wide range of related factors. This is needed both in terms of current trends and future challenges and concerns, in order to provide the 'evidence base' for the emerging strategy. The transport strategy cannot be developed in isolation from the factors driving the changing face of Cornwall. It is widely acknowledged that people travel in order to carry out another activity rather than for the act of travelling itself. Therefore, understanding current demographic and travel trends and the potential changing patterns over the course of the next 10 or 20 years is a vital element in understanding what should be delivered on the ground through the LTP2 in the next five years. A range of factors have been taken into consideration, as follows:
- Physical aspects of the County.
- Social.
- Economic.
- Environment and Heritage.
- Healthcare and Education.
- Tourism and Leisure.
- Travel to Work, Healthcare, Education and Shopping.
- The Impacts of Travel.
- Outcomes of wide ranging consultation exercises.
- The Future - Moving Forward to 2016 and Beyond.
