2.3 Impacts and Climate Change

The spectacular landscape and coastal scenery, natural and historic conservation and biodiversity interests have opened up opportunities to experience and learn about wildlife, history, geology, culture and industry. They have helped to position Cornwall as one of the top holiday destinations in the UK.  However, that brings with it pressures about visitor access to the countryside and sensitive areas that need to be successfully managed.

These environmental assets are also susceptible to global climate change and local air quality changes. Generally, the air quality in Cornwall is good but there are some prevailing issues relating to ozone and also emerging local 'hotspots' relating to traffic, mainly in the Cornish towns, which need to be addressed.
