Cornwall LTP1 Delivery Report - July 2006

Foreword

The seeds of Cornwall's economic recovery were sown during the period of the first Local Transport Plan (LTP1). The County has started to take on a renewed vibrancy, fuelled by important economic drivers such as the EU Objective One programme.  There is a desire within all sectors to work together towards our common goals for the good of one and all.

The five year LTP1 delivery programme has played no small part in what has been achieved. It has helped to support many of our local projects and the needs of our  communities, both large and small.

As a County, we have recognised the important role that transport plays for the wider benefit of our society and have been very willing to invest our own capital and revenue monies in support of central government’s own LTP1 financial settlements.  We have not been disappointed in what has been delivered thorough the five year period and this document stands as testimonial to the considerable effort that has been invested.

However, we are not complacent. In reviewing our delivery of LTP1, we have learned many lessons on the way and these have been taken forward into the LTP2 period up to 2011.

I congratulate all who have contributed towards the delivery of the LTP1 programme and commend this document as testimony to a job well done.  I look forward to continuing our transport programme with renewed vigour in the years to come.
