Initially two fire appliances from St Austell were mobilised to reports of a fire in an old coach store. On arrival the crews found that several coaches were on fire and requested further assistance. One fire appliance from St Dennis and the water carrier from Newquay were sent.

Firefighters, some wearing breathing apparatus, used monitors and foam to extinguish the fire involving the yard, measuring 100 metres by 20 metres, containing the coaches and mechanical equipment. The fire was brought under control by 2130hrs and the last crews left the scene at 2210hrs.

Arson is suspected and the police are now dealing.
