Firefighters from Helston and Mullion attended a fire at the top of the stairs of a two-storey terraced house. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hosereel and one jet to extinguish the fire by 0505hrs.
An ambulance crew attended to treat eight occupants suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.
Before leaving, the crews fitted smoke alarms, as there were none fitted in this house.
General Fire Safety Advice:
Fires happen when you least expect them, often during the night. They also spread very quickly, damaging property, killing and injuring people.
Many people killed in house fires are asleep at the time. A smoke alarm will wake you up and give you vital extra time to escape. Costing from as little as £5, there really is no excuse for not having a smoke alarm in your home.
