Barn Fire

Just over forty firefighters from St Columb, St Dennis, Newquay, Bodmin, St Austell and Truro are tackling a blaze involving a barn, measuring 70ft by 40ft. The crews initially were involved in rescuing a number of pigs from the building and trying to prevent the fire from spreading to a stable block.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus are fighting the fire using two jets and two hosereels from open water.

Update at 0200 hours:
The incident is ongoing and crews are using three jets at the scene. Relief crews from St. Columb, Padstow and St. Austell are arranged throughout the night.

Update at 0800 hours:
Appliances from St. Dennis and Newquay are still in attendance, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using a jet, are working in conjunction with a low loader which is removing the hay from the barn at this time.

Final Update:
One relief crew from St Austell spent the morning damping down. A fire investigation officer attended and the cause of the fire is not being treated as suspicious. The incident was left at 1200hrs.
