Firefighter Widow Presents Charity Cheque At Redruth

at 04/12/2008 10:19

Firefighters from Redruth Fire Station gathered this week to accept a cheque from Tracey Gay, the widow of firefighter Malcolm Gay who passed away this year after his battle with Cancer. Tracey asked for donations instead of flowers at Malcolm's funeral, which took place at St Andrew's Church on 10th October. Malcolm's family and friends raised a generous £320 for The Fire Fighters Charity, which helps firefighters and their families in case of injury in the line of duty.

Divisional Commander Mark Boeck accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity from Mrs Gay, alongside Malcolm's colleagues from Redruth Fire Station. He said, "Malcolm had been a retained firefighter at Redruth since 12 February 2002 and was a valued and well liked member of the team. His loss has been felt by all of his colleagues and we were overwhelmed by Tracey's donation to The Fire Fighters Charity. Our hearfelt thanks go out to Tracey, and of course to all of Malcolm's friends and family who gave so generously."
