Several 999 calls were received at Fire Control, Truro, reporting a kitchen fire with gas cylinders possibly involved. Two fire appliances from Penzance and one fire appliance from St Just were mobilised.

The crews found that the fire involved a large amount of cardboard outside the building, which was causing the building to be smoke-logged.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hosereel and one jet to bring the fire under control by 1240hrs. Crews remained on scene for a time, venting the smoke from the building.

Arson is suspected and the police are now dealing.
