A38 Closed Due To Car Leaking Liquid Petroleum Gas

Petrol Filling Station, A38, Trerulefoot, between Liskeard and Saltash at 14/01/2009 12:01

One fire crew from Liskeard and one fire crew from Saltash attended an incident at a filling station near the Trerulefoot roundabout. The crews were called by the filling station at 12:01hrs to a liquid petroleum gas-fuelled car which had a leak in a fuel pipe. The A38 was closed as the gas venting from the vehicle was being blown in a plume across the road. The petrol station was evacuated and the electrics isolated. The crews used one covering jet and one hosereel to disperse the gas plume.

The leak was eventually stopped by a vehicle engineer and when the area was declared safe, by firefighters using a gas monitor, the A38 was reopened at about 1500hrs.
