Firefighters from Newquay and St Columb attended a report of a fire in an upstairs bathroom. One of the occupants was trapped in a bedroom, as the smoke from the fire was filling the upstairs of the house.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued the occupant from the bedroom and one hosereel was used to extinguish the fire.
The rescued occupant and one other occupant were suffering slight smoke inhalation and were checked over by ambulance personnel.
A smoke alarm could clearly be heard in the background, when the 999 call was received in Fire Control, giving the occupants an early indication of the fire and may well have prevented a more tragic outcome.
