Chief Fire Officer Terry Standing says, “The Brigade is extremely active in raising money for various charities, but this year it has been decided to not only support The Fire Fighters Charity but also the Chairman of Cornwall County Council’s charity, Precious Lives. We hope to sell each and every ticket to make the most amount of money possible for these well deserved causes.”

Tickets for the black tie ball are £30 each and include a delicious 5 course meal, plus entertainment from Cornwall’s top soul and blues band - Soul Survivors and the Steve Starr disco. There will also be a charity raffle with a selection of fantastic prizes. Tickets are limited and can be purchased from Alison Parrott on 01872 323739. Individual tickets, right up to tables of 10 are available.

Speaking of the Fire Brigade’s support of Precious Lives, Emma Lloyd, CHSW Head of Fundraising (West) says, “We are extremely pleased that Cornwall County Fire Brigade has decided to support the Precious Lives Appeal. We’ve already received a huge amount of support from Cornwall County Council employees in the past year and every penny makes a real difference. Notes to editors:

The Fire Fighters Charity
Every year, thousands of fire fighters are injured whilst protecting the public. Every 30 seconds in the UK, fire fighters are called to an incident, putting their lives on the line, and often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. The Fire Fighters Charity is there for fire fighters during their times of need, and assists over 13,500 individuals every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.

It costs over £9 million every year to keep the Charity running, and with no government funding, it is completely reliant upon donations from the general public and fire community.

The charity can be contacted on 0800 389 8820.

Precious Lives Appeal
Children's Hospice South West has been providing care and respite to families from across the South West of England for over 13 years firstly at Little Bridge House, North Devon, and more recently at Charlton Farm, North Somerset. Plans are now in place to extend this world class service into Cornwall.

A hospice in Cornwall will offer more choice to families across the South West on which hospice they choose to use. It will also provide a place closer to home for many families from Cornwall and Plymouth, who may find the journey to Little Bridge House and Charlton Farm too far, or would just be happier using a hospice closer to home and friends and family.

Children's Hospice South West's Precious Lives Appeal has been set up to fund the build of this much needed third hospice for the South West of England. The new hospice, to be built near St Austell will be called Little Harbour.

The charity can be contacted at 01872 261 166.
