On the initial call to this incident, it was classified as 'persons reported,' crews from Redruth and Camborne were mobilised, on arrival crews found smoke issuing from the property, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and used a hosereel, the positive pressure fan was also used. It was quickly confirmed that the premises were empty. A passer-by dialled 999 after hearing the smoke alarms sounding and smoke coming from the property. The fire had started in the kitchen.
