Call To House Fire

Plushabridge, near Upton Cross, north of Liskeard at 06/02/2009 10:39

Two fire appliances from Liskeard were mobilised to a report of smoke in the living room of a cottage. The road conditions in this area were atrocious due to heavy snowfall. One of the fire appliances from Liskeard has four-wheel drive capability and was able to access the property.

The smoke was coming from a chimney fire and the crew used a stirrup pump and rods to deal with the incident. No further assistance was required.

Public Safety:
An fire officer attending this incident was concerned that there were members of the public driving vehicles in the atrocious conditions, apparently weather watching.
During the extreme weather, members of the public are advised to make journeys, ONLY if absolutely necessary.
