Cornwall County Fire Brigade was presented with a prestigious award at the Excellence in Business Training Awards 2009 ceremony hosted by Cornwall College Business at the Headland Hotel in Newquay last night (Thursday).
The Fire Brigade won the award for ‘Outstanding Commitment to Training’ which is presented to large companies which have shown outstanding dedication to training that has contributed to business success.
The judges, who were from the education and business sectors, including the Confederation of British Industries (CBI), praised Cornwall County Fire Brigade’s successful approach to training, which they said, encourages and supports personal and organisational improvement by focusing on continuous development.
“This Award recognises that the Brigade continues to strive to ensure that it has a workforce which is professional, committed, motivated and is ready to respond to the needs of all individuals and groups from the community” said Interim Chief Fire Officer Terry Standing. “I am extremely proud of the Brigade and would like to say a personal thanks and well done to the team”.
“I would also like to give an assurance that we will continue to provide all staff with the highest standard of learning, training and development opportunities necessary for them to perform their roles in a safe, professional and competent manner.”
