Six Pump Fire - Final Update

About forty firefighters are fighting a blaze at a building, measuring twenty metres by ten metres. The fire is located on the first floor.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have gained entry to the affected floor to fight the fire. Two jets are in use.

Firefighters are attending from the following Fire Stations:
Truro, St Dennis, St Austell, Perranporth, Mevagissey and Newquay.

Update 2210hrs: The building is a disused factory. Firefighting is continuing with crews wearing breathing apparatus and using jets. The aerial ladder platform from Truro is in use to assist firefighters in determining the extent of the fire damage. The roads around the site have been closed to protect the public and to allow access for the fire appliances and equipment.

Update 2240hrs: The fire has now been brought under control. Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus continue to damp down. The aerial ladder platform is still in use. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Update 2345hrs: Damping down continues. Two pumping appliances and the aerial ladder platform from Truro remain in attendance. All other fire appliances have left the scene. The roads surrounding the site have now been re-opened.

Update 0100hrs: Damping down is now complete. All the fire crews have now left the scene. Arson is suspected as the cause of the fire and a joint investigation involving Fire Investigation Officers and the Police will continue in daylight.

Final Update: The fire was confined to the office complex part of the building and through the hard efforts of the fire crews, the majority of the building was saved from fire damage.
