Overturned Milk Tanker

On receiving a call from the Police, appliances from St. Columb, St. Dennis and the rescue tender from Bodmin attended this incident. The tanker, which contained some 27,000 litres of milk, released some of its load into the drains, the Environment Agency was alerted also South West Water Authority. An emergency tanker was requested to offload the milk. Fire Brigade personnel attempted to stem the flow of milk into the drains, they also used cutting equipment to gain access for the milk to be pumped out. Crews were detained for a considerable time with the last of the crews returning to their home stations at approximately 0400 hours.
