Horse Rescued From Mud In River

Tramway, Bissoe, between Truro and Redruth at 12/04/2009 15:55

One fire crew from Truro, two fire crews from Camborne with specialist animal rescue gear and one fire crew from Falmouth with water safety equipment, were mobilised to reports of a horse that had fallen into mud in a river. The fire crews assisted paramedics in gaining access to the injured rider, who was at the bottom of a steep bank and they also stabilised the horse that was stuck in mud in the river.

The casualty was assisted to the ambulance, in which they were conveyed to hospital. The fire crews then rescued the horse from the mud and the horse was left in care of a vet.

There is no further information on the condition of the horse or the rider.
