Firefighter Nick Harvey from Camborne Community Fire Station is training for a marathon bike ride from John O’Groats to Lands End to raise money for The Precious Lives Appeal and the Fire fighters Charity.
Nick will begin the gruelling 900 mile ride on 20th May and is looking for sponsorship to raise as much money as possible for the two charities.
Nick says of his epic adventure: “I’ll be using a fixed wheel bike which means only one gear and no free wheeling and I will be riding alone carrying my own sleeping gear and supplies. I aim to cycle about 180 miles a day which gives me a target of five days to complete the ride”.
To start the fundraising off and as part of his training regime, Nick is organising a comparatively mini bike ride from Camborne Community Fire Station on 26th April. For a £5.00 donation to the appeal fund, there is an opportunity to join in a 20 mile or 50 mile bicycle ride with full support facilities to cover any mechanical or safety eventualities. Just turn up on the day.
To sponsor Nick, contact him at Camborne Fire Station on 01209 712316.
