Initially, two fire appliances from Perranporth were mobilised to a report of a property full of smoke. Within a very short space of time, the fire had escalated and when the first fire crew arrived there was smoke pouring from the roof and flames coming out of a window. Two further fire appliances were requested and these were mobilised from Newquay.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hosereels and two jets to bring the severe fire in the bungalow, measuring 10 metres by 20 metres, under control by 2205hrs. Fire crews remained on scene for some time damping down hotspots.

A fire investigation team attended the scene the next day and determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
