The first attending officer at this incident was able to escort an elderly gentleman to safety who had been trapped in his bedroom. Two appliances from Penzance then arrived and used breathing apparatus to investigate the fire and ventilate the premises. It was found that the fire had originated in an oil-fired heater and was now out. The crews also fitted a smoke alarm to the property.
