Garage and Oil Tank Fire

Following about forty 999 emergency calls to the Truro-based Fire Control, two fire appliances from Perranporth and two fire appliances from Newquay attended a fire involving a garage and an oil tank.

The garage measures 20 metres by 4 metres and was well alight. Firefighters, some wearing breathing apparatus, battled the blaze using one main jet and two hosereels.

The fire was brought under control within an hour and fire crews remained on scene damping down till 2330hrs.

The road, which is one of the main roads into Perranporth, was closed for a time, to protect the public and to allow the firefighters to safely carry out their work.
