On receipt of this call two appliances from Newquay were mobilised, on arrival further appliances and the aerial ladder platform were requested. The fire was initially in a three storey terraced shop which was well alight, one person was rescued from the second floor by Brigade and Police personnel. As the incident escalated there were a total of six major pumps and two aerial ladder platforms involved. At one stage there were nine firefighters wearing breathing apparatus committed at the scene, which had by then involved adjoining properties, hosereels and four jets were used at the incident also a jet was used from the aerial ladder platform, over fifty firefighters were involved during the incident.
A Fire Investigation Team was requested at the incident.
The incident was scaled down during the morning, appliances remained at the scene throughout the day damping down.
