The occupant of a first-floor flat managed to escape when fire broke out but sustained injuries and has been taken to hospital by ambulance. Two other people in the block were rescued by firefighters and along with another person were checked over by paramedics. They did not need to go to hospital.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hosereels and one jet to fight the blaze which had spread to the roof space. A search of the building was made to ensure that all persons were accounted for.
The fire was brought under control by 2310hrs and crews remained on scene, damping down, for a further hour.
Two fire appliances from Newquay, one fire appliance from St Columb and one fire appliance from Perranporth attended this incident.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will continue on Monday morning but it is not thought to be suspicious.
There are no other details available from the brigade, particularly on the condition of the casualties.
