Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service Want To Hear From You

at 02/11/2009 14:41

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service are seeking the views of Cornwall’s residents on its proposed new vision, mission and priorities.

Work is continuing on the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service Plan for 2010/13 and the Service is embarking on a 13 week public consultation phase to ask for feedback and comments.

The proposed vision which sets out what the Service aims to achieve is

Reaching Everyone, for a Safer Cornwall, by Understanding our Environment.

The public consultation phase follows on from engagement sessions held last month with staff, partners, elected members and the public to develop the vision and priorities which are now being put up for public consultation.

Once public opinion has been gathered and analysed, the final draft of the service plan will be presented to elected members for final sign off in March 2010.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Chief Fire Officer Des Tidbury said: “We want to know what people think about the vision and how the Service proposes to achieve it by Working Together for a Safer Cornwall. We want the people of Cornwall to let us know if they agree with the priorities we have identified and how they rate their importance.”

The full details of the proposed vision, mission and priorities are set out in a summary leaflet available on line or by post.

Cabinet member for stronger communities Lance Kennedy said: “This is an opportunity for all the communities in Cornwall to have their say in how this vital service develops over the coming years.”

The consultation period runs until 12 noon on January 25 2010.

The online questionnaire, details of the consultation process and the summary leaflet can be found at: www.cornwall.gov.uk/fireconsultation.
