WENDRON STREET, HELSTON at 29/11/2009 00:59

At 0059 Cornwall fire & Rescue received a call to Wendron Street in Helston to a smoke detector sounding and a smell of smoke. Two appliances from Helston and one from Mullion attended including a Wholetime Officer.

On arrival the crews entered one of the flats where they found a kitchen fire which was out.

Two casualties were removed suffering from smoke inhalation, they were given 100% oxygen before being passed to the Ambulance service. Crews used four Breathing Apparatus to search the rest of the property using a Thermal Imaging Camera to check that the fire had not spread. Crews ventilated the property before leaving the scene.
