Road Traffic Collision Involving Fire Appliance

At just after 0930hrs this morning, 30 November 2009, a request was received from Ambulance Control for Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service to assist at a road traffic collision at St Minver, near Wadebridge, where a driver suspected of having a back injury, was trapped in a car. One fire appliance from Wadebridge and the rescue tender from Bodmin were mobilised.

Whilst en-route the fire appliance from Wadebridge was involved in a minor collision with a bus, near to the Bee Centre at St Minver. One passenger on the bus was treated at the scene for a minor facial injury. There were no other injuries to the firefighters or members of the public. Police and Ambulance also attended along with accident investigators from the fire service.

Firefighters from Bodmin continued to the original incident, where the casualty had already been released and was conveyed to hospital by air ambulance. The crew made the vehicles safe.
