Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service recieved a call to smoke coming from the windows of a top floor flat at 11:24 this morning. Upon the call two crews from St Ives and one from Penzance were mobilised. The fire had started in the lounge of a first floor flat in the building. Crews used 6 breathing apparatus and two hosereels to extinguish the fire in the building measuring 20 m x 7 m. On the initial call it was believed that there may have been a casualty trapped in the flat, but after crews had searched the property it was confirmed nobody was involved in the fire. Crews also investigated the loft space of the building and other flats in the building as they were affected with smoke. Two crews and an Officer are still remaining on scene, clearing away and carrying out a fire investigation to establish the cause of the fire.
