Make Your Views Known On Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service By 25 January

at 13/01/2010 14:46

Cornwall’s residents are urged to say what they think of Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service’s proposed new vision, mission and priorities as a thirteen week consultation period comes to an end on 25 January.

Residents have the opportunity to say what they think about the proposed vision which sets out what the Service aims to achieve under the title

Reaching Everyone, for a Safer Cornwall, by Understanding our Environment.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Chief Fire Officer Des Tidbury said: “I’ve been out and about over the past weeks in various locations to listen to people’s views. I hope even more will spare the time to let us know what they think about the vision and how the Service proposes to achieve it by Working Together for a Safer Cornwall. We want the people of Cornwall to let us know if they agree with the priorities we have identified and how they rate their importance.”

The public consultation phase follows on from engagement sessions held with staff, partners, elected members and the public to develop the vision and priorities.

Once public opinion has been gathered and analysed, the final draft of the service plan will be presented to elected members in March 2010.

The full details of the proposed vision, mission and priorities are set out in a summary leaflet available on line or by post.

Cabinet member for stronger communities Lance Kennedy said: “This is an opportunity for all the communities in Cornwall to have their say in how this vital service develops over the coming years.”

The consultation period runs until 12 noon on January 25 2010.

The online questionnaire, details of the consultation process and the summary leaflet can be found at: www.cornwall.gov.uk/fireconsultation.
