Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has taken delivery of brand new personal protective equipment for its operational staff.
The improved design coupled with enhanced reflectivity and the provision of one standard issue across Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service staff represents a significant investment in safety equipment as well as demonstrating Cornwall Council’s emphasis on firefighter and public safety.
The high tech kit includes a new helmet, fire coat and leggings which are lighter and better designed. The fire coat is shorter to improve manoeuvrability and the leggings sit higher on the torso to provide better vital organ protection.
The Nomex Titan brand equipment is supplied by Bristol Uniforms and fully complies with British and European standards. The new, more comfortable Rosenbauer helmet is tested for structural fire fighting in extreme conditions and gives excellent protection.
Cornwall Council Chief Executive Kevin Lavery said “I’m very pleased to see the roll out of this new personal protective equipment which provides the very best protection for our firefighters who are regularly deployed in difficult and dangerous conditions.”
Lance Kennedy, Cornwall Council Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities said “Firefighter and public safety is a key priority for Cornwall Council which is reflected in the capital investment in new personal protective equipment for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service operational staff. We are committed to equipping our staff with the very best equipment to provide maximum protection during operational incidents”
