Car, Van and Accomodation Fire

Colenso Cross - Goldsithney at 21/03/2010 22:46


The Fire & Rescue Service received a call to a car fire in the Colenso Cross area of Goldsithney, one appliance from Penzance was mobilised, further calls indicated that there were more than one vehicle alight and prior to the arrival of the appliance a second engine was mobilised from Penzance to this incident.

On arrival the crews found 2 vehicles and a make shift accommodation well alight and used 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hosereel to tackle the fire.

The crews made a further two appliances - a Water Carrier and specialised equipment bringing the total number of Firefighters to 31.

One appliance from Camborne and one appliance from St Just; who were on standby at Penzance attended. The Water Carrier from Newquay was also despatched, as well as the Operational Support Vehicle from Falmouth. Two Wholetime Officers also attended.

The crews brought the fire under control which had spread to 3 cars, 3 vans and the make shift accommodation eventually extinguishing the fire using 4 breathing apparatus 1 jet and 1 hosereel. The fire was deemed accidental. The Fire & Rescue Service has now left the scene.
