At 1255 this afternoon the CFRS attended a reported chemical spill on a lorry carrying chemicals. Appliances from St Columb, Newquay ,St Dennis ,Bodmin & Truro attended. Once it was established that 1 X 200 litre drum identified was leaking 2 firefighters wearing Gas tight suits stopped the leak using Dammit paste. The spillage was then mopped up using absorbent mats.The Chemical was identified as Caustic soda. A specialist contractor will be dealing with the recovery of the damaged container & material
