On receipt of this call, reporting a dog trapped down a mine shaft, appliances from Redruth and Camborne were mobilised, Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service personnel set up the shaft rescue equipment and one crew member was lowered and successfully recovered the Jack Russel dog unharmed. The shaft was approximately 80 feet deep and the dog was stuck on a ledge about 20 feet down.
