Multi Agency Rescue

Beach in front of Victoria Hotel, Newquay at 30/04/2010 18:24


On receipt of a call for this incident, it was confirmed that a lift had plummeted from the first floor to the beach level, there were persons reported injured inside the lift.
Cornwall Fire & Rescue Control Room mobilised initial resources from Newquay to the incident, on arrival further resources were requested, the water safety units from St. Austell and Falmouth also the line rescue team and rescue tender from Bodmin and further appliances from St. Columb and Perranporth attended.
Cornwall & Devon Police, Westcountry Ambulance, Coastguards and RNLI Lifeboats also attended.
Cornwall Fire & Rescue worked in close association with the other Agencies and a total of six casualties were transferred to the lifeboat and then passed to waiting ambulance crews who checked their condition, one casualty was transferred to hospital by ambulance.
Station Manager Sean Taylor (Incident Commander) has commented that this was an incident involving the multi agencies which led to a very successful outcome.
