On receipt of several calls for this incident, appliances from Fowey and St. Austell were mobilised to this incident, further resources were requested and further crews from Fowey, Mevagissey and St. Austell attended, the aerial ladder platform from Truro also attended.
The fire was in the first floor bedroom of a 18 by 7 metre semi detached property, teams of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed to the property and used main jets and high pressure hosereels to extinguish the fire. Crews were delayed a considerable time damping down and checking for hot spots.
The actions of the occupier in isolating the mains services before evacuating the property helped Fire & Rescue personnel who dealt with the incident.
The occupier had smoke alarms present within the property and these activated and alerted the occupier of the situation.
