Fire At Electrical Station

Indian Queens - St Dennis at 25/05/2010 13:06

At 13:06 the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service received information from the public that there had been an explosion at a main power station in St Dennis.

Two appliances from St Dennis and one appliance from St Columb attended this incident. On arrival crews found that one of the large electrical components, running off 132,000 volts of electricity, had exploded. There was a small fire on one of the components but crews had to standby while the electricity was isolated for obvious safety reasons.

When the electricity was isolated crews used a powder extinguisher to extinguish the fire. There are no other details for this incident.
