Railway Embankment Fire

Two fire appliances from Truro and the water carrier from Newquay are in attendance at a fire involving the railway embankment.

Access to the fire is difficult and four hosereels are being used to extinguish the fire. The trains travelling in an easterly direction have been stopped to allow the firefighters to work safely near to the railway track.

Update 1745hrs: Firefighters are now standing clear of the railway track to allow trains that have been waiting, to pass the incident. There is a risk that the fire will flare up and spread to a nearby property. The trains may need to be stopped again so that firefighters can once again work safely to extinguish the fire.

Update 1920 hours: The fire has now been extinguished, Fire and Rescue personnel are now making up equipment and are delayed approximately 30 minutes before returning to their home stations.
