On the initial call for this incident, both appliances from St. Ives were mobilised, on arrival the crew were faced with a shop premise which was heavily smokelogged, a further appliance was requested and an appliance from Penzance mobilised also a further resource from St. Ives attended.
A fire was found to be in the sub basement area of the premises.

Update at 2245 hours: A total of six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using two hosereel jets and a covering jet are committed at this time to the building which comprises of a 5 storey terraced property.

Update at 2300 hours: Devon & Cornwall Police are in attendance and have closed main roads in the town and are also monitoring members of the public as the town is very busy at this time.

Update at 2330 hours: The fire has now been confirmed extinguished, Cornwall Fire & Rescue personnel are now making up equipment and will shortly be returning to their home stations. The cause of the fire was believed to have involved an electrical appliance.
