Boats On Fire

At 0303hrs CFRS were called to a reported boat on fire. 2 appliances from Falmouth 1 appliance from Redruth attended the incident. On the arrival of the first appliance 2 boats were on fire & possible persons reported to be still on board. In a joint operation assisted by West Country Ambulance, Police and Falmouth Coastguard cliff rescue team, following intensive search all persons have now been accounted for. Crews are currently turning over & damping down. At one stage fire fighters set up a ground monitor as gas cylinders were involved. 4 fire-fighters using breathing apparatus 2 hose reels & 1 jet were used to extinguish the fire. A fire investigation will be carried out later this morning at 0900hrs. No further information available at this time.
CFRS is concerned that people living in boats, mobile, homes and tented structures may not have the necessary information on fire safety and smoke detection. We are currently inviting people living in this type of accommodation to call the fire service on our free phone number 0800 3581999 for free advice and smoke detectors.
