Fire in DIY Store

Homebase, Pool at 03/05/2002 20:29

The Brigade was called to a fire at Homebase DIY Store at Pool, Redruth which required eight pumping appliances, an aerial ladder platform and command support appliances to bring under control.

The fire appears to have originated in the storage section of the warehouse, which was well alight when the first crew arrived and was totally destroyed by fire. However, the concentrated firefighting efforts of the crews meant that damage to the main retail area was limited.

The most likely cause was a fault in a flourescent light strip, which went undiscovered by the staff and lead to a delay in the fire brigade being called.
