Kitchen fire caused by unattended chip pan

At 18:08 Cornwall Fire Control received a call to a kitchen fire in a property in Trevaunce Cove, St Agnes. Two crews from Perranporth and one from Truro were mobilised initially to the fire. On the crews arrival they found a two storey building, heavily smoke logged with a fire in the rear of the property. Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel. Upon their arrival Truro fire crews set into a near by hydrant to provide one covering jet. Western Power engineers attended the property to isolate the electrics. At 18:28 crews made 'Pumps three' and an appliance from Redruth was mobilised to the property fire. A total of six breathing apparatus, two covering jets were used. Once the fire was extinguished crews damped down.
The fire had started accidentally after a chip pan had been left unattended. The fire had started in the kitchen and spread to the first floor of the property.
