Fire crews and the Marine Incident Response Group (MIRG) have been air lifted to the Athena fishing factory vessel that is on fire and currently anchored in Falmouth Bay.

The extent of the fire is likely to include 650,000 cardboard boxes and packaging. The fire is believed to be on decks 1 and 2 in the forward storage areas.

There are 12 Firefighters on board and they are currently deploying bulkhead thermometers. A lifeboat is standing by the Athena as a rescue platform.
