Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service Fire Cadets Help Raise Funds For Help For Heroes

at 16/11/2010 16:19

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service fire cadets based at Saltash Community Fire Station have helped raise £4,000 for Help for Heroes, the charity which raises funds to provide direct and practical support for the wounded men and women of the country’s armed forces.

The cadets helped to raise the money by acting as fire marshals and helpers at a series of monthly Plymouth Bike Nights held on the Hoe in Plymouth from April to October. Bikers were invited to rally at a cost of £3 per bike and each event attracted between 600 and 1000 bikes.

Senior fire cadets attended the event each month from the Saltash branch which has 33 cadets aged 12- 18 years.

Cadet Kye Berrey said: “Not only am I proud to be part of Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service Youth cadets, but proud to be asked to support Help the Heroes by marshalling motorbikes at the Plymouth Bike Night”.
