Two fire appliances from Penzance and one fire appliance from St Just were mobilised following a report from a passer-by of a house fire with a person inside.

The fire crews were quickly on scene and found an upstairs bedroom well alight of a semi-detached house, measuring six metres by four metres. Firefighters, some wearing breathing apparatus, used one jet and one hosereel to extinguish the fire, which also damaged 25% of the roof. There was smoke-logging to the roof space of the adjoining property, which was checked for fire spread.

Fortunately, the occupant had been able to exit the property without injury.

The cause of the fire is accidental.
