Person trapped under tree

Woods near Trefrize, Trebullett, Launceston at 19/04/2011 11:57

Two crews from Callington and a Rescue Tender from Bodmin attended a call to a person rescue this morning. On the initial call it was reported that a man had been using a chainsaw and was trapped under a fallen tree. Fire crews proceeded to this incident which was 1.5 miles from the nearest road in a wooded area. Fire Crews, Paramedics and Air Ambulance had to search a wooded area to find the casualty. The casualty was found face down, trapped under a substantial log which was around 5 foot long. Fire crews used low pressure air bags to lift the log off of the casualty who was underneath. When lifted, general purpose rope lines were used to stabilise the log. Once the log was stabilised and off of the casualty, the casualty was dragged free from underneath the log.
The casualty was taken to hospital by Air Ambulance at 13:30.
