Two appliances from Saltash were mobilised on receipt of a call to Fire Control from the occupants of a flat, stating they could see smoke coming from the flat below. The crews from Saltash were on scene very quickly and found the ground floor flat to be well alight, wearing breathing apparatus the crew successfully rescued one male occupant and extinguished the fire using two hosereels. The occupant was then handed over to the care of Westcountry Ambulance personel.

There will be further investigations into the cause of the fire.
