Firefighters from St Dennis attended a call to gorse on fire between Nanpean and St Stephens at Bloomdale Pit. On their arrival they requested an off-road vehicle, as there was a large area of gorse on the side of the pit alight. The fire crews used beaters to manage the fire and allow it to burn to natural breaks.

Update at 2100hrs: Firefighters from St Dennis were joined by firefighters from St Austell. The fire is continuing to burn but presents no danger of spreading to property. Due to the difficult terrain, firefighting will continue in daylight.
