House Fire

Hawkins Way, Helston at 08/05/2011 05:00

Appliances from Helston attended a fire in Hawkins Way, Helston. The alarm was raised by a neighbour hearing a smoke alarm from some distance away, they then investigated the area and could smell burning from the property. On arrival the crews found the male occupant downstairs and unaware of the fire. He was rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, from the smoke filled room. Firefighters administered oxygen, as he had suffered from smoke inhalation, until the Ambulance arrived. The casualty was treated then by Ambulance personnel. The gentleman was able to remain at home, thanks to the prompt action of the neighbour otherwise there may have been a much more serious outcome. The fire was extinguished and the property ventilated.

There are no further details regarding this incident.
