On receipt of this call, appliances from Fowey and Lostwithiel were mobilised, on arrival at the incident, smoke was reported issuing from the premises, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed at the scene and used two high pressure hosereels to extinguish the fire, which was in the first floor bedroom of a two storey semi detached house, crews then proceeded to damp down and ventilate. The alarm was raised by a passer by who saw smoke coming from the property, the property only had a working smoke alarm in the downstairs and no alarms in the upstairs, if it were not for the quick actions and the fast response of the passer by the outcome could have been very different as they not only dialled 999 and gave precise details but alerted the occupants of the house and ensured that they exited the premises. The cause of the fire was accidental.
