On receipt of this call both appliances from Penzance were mobilised. On arrival the crew found a barn measuring 15 by 8 metres, with large bales of straw and the fire within the bales, crews wearing breathing apparatus used a high pressure hosereel also a main jet at the scene, the bales were removed to open ground using farm machinery and the crew dealt with hot spots within the bales. The fire was caused by spontaneous combustion. Crews were delayed for a considerable time, eventually leaving the scene at 1100 hours.
